Members of the AUN have all agreed in organizing “The 15th AUN and 4th ASEAN+3 Educational Forum and Young Speakers’ Contest” at Malaysia, hosted by Kebangsaan Malaysia University .
1. Time: 07 – 10/11/2016
2. Location: Mahidol University, Thailand
3. Topic:
- Educational Forum “Sustainable development through community engagement in economics, social and environmental pillars”
- Young Speakers’ Contest “Sustainable development through community engagement from youth perspective”
4. Main Activities:
- Discuss about ASEAN+3 countries related issues
- Young speakers’ contest
- Special lectures
- Cultural Programs
5. Fees:
- Candidates will be supported with expenses including: meals, domestic transportation, materials related to the forum.
- Candidates have to pay for their own travel fees.
6. Educational Forum information:
- VNU-HCM will nominate 1 student and 1 lecturer to participate this year forum and contest.
- Student will be requested to write 02 essays: a Policy paper and a Country profile
- Policy paper: the candidates has to be able to illustrate the current policies and point of views of the country concerning this year topic.
- Country profile: this essay will discuss about the general history, the development of economic, cultural, political geographical matters; each county key policy concerning ASEAN and other international bodies
- Attending faculty will have to analyze and assess the essays and will be the judge for the Young speakers’ contest.
7. Young Speakers’ Contest:
- VNU-HCM will nominate 1 student to participate in the Young Speakers’ Contest
- Student will have to write an essay (approx. 1500 words) about the forum topic.
- Each student will have 10 minutes to present about the topic.
- The result will be based on the content of the essay as well as the student’s ability in conveying the judges
8. Eligibility:
- For lecturers
- Be a current lecturer, age not over 45 years old to the date of application
- Possess sound knowledge of ASEAN and East Asia
- Be a good team player with good communication skills
- Be a healthy person with an ability to adapt to change
- Experience in dealing with people from diverse background
- Possess good command of English
- Committed to attend the programme for the duration of 7 days
- For students
- Be a current student of the AUN Member Universities, preferably in the second or third year of study
- Possess sound knowledge of ASEAN and East Asia
- Be a good team player with good communication skills
- Be a healthy person with an ability to adapt to change
- Possess good command of English
- Committed to attend the programme for the duration of 7 days
9. Application:
Step 1: Candidates will submit the application to the School/Department that they are currently in before 14/09/2014
Step 2: School/department will nominate the candidates to the Office of External and Public Relations before 15/09/2014
